Repeat prescriptions are the bread and butter of community pharmacy. We aim to make ordering yours straightforward — and getting them ready when promised, every time.

How it works

If your GP has set you up on a repeat prescription, you can order through us in three ways:

  • Online. Fill in the form below and we will request your repeat from your GP.
  • By phone. Call 0121 472 0155 during opening hours.
  • In person. Pop in and one of the team will sort it for you.

Once your GP issues the prescription, we receive it electronically (provided you are nominated to us — see below), dispense your medication, and notify you when it is ready. Most repeat prescriptions are ready within two working days, often sooner.

Speed it up: nominate us on EPS first. If we are your nominated pharmacy, your GP can send the prescription to us electronically the moment it is signed — no paper, no delays. Nominate Selly Pharmacy in 30 seconds.

Free local delivery for B29

If you are housebound or have difficulty getting to the pharmacy, we offer a free local delivery service across the B29 postcode. We deliver Monday to Friday, usually within 24 hours of your prescription being ready.

To request delivery, tick the relevant box on the order form, or just let us know when you call.

Sign up for blister packs too

If you take several different medications and find it difficult to keep track of when to take what, we offer a free blister pack service. Your medication for the whole week is organised into a single tray, by day and time. It can make a real difference for managing complex regimes.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take?

Most repeats are ready within 48 hours of your GP issuing the prescription. We will send you a text or call when ready. If your medication is on back-order with the supplier (occasionally an issue at a national level), we will let you know promptly and offer alternatives.

Do I still pay the prescription charge?

Yes. The standard NHS prescription charge applies as it always has — currently £9.90 per item — unless you are exempt or have a Prescription Prepayment Certificate. We can advise on certificates if you regularly need multiple items.

What if I run out before the next one is due?

Speak to us. We can sometimes provide an emergency supply for urgent medications without you needing to see your GP first, depending on the medicine and the circumstances. Always better to ask than to go without.

Can someone else collect for me?

Yes, just let us know who will be collecting on your behalf and we will hand it over with the usual identification check.
